To put it in painfully stark terms, the long-term viability of America’s carrier strike groups in high-end fights now rests pretty squarely on the F/A-XX program’s shoulders… But now, the White House is saying that America can only effectively manage one new high-end fighter program at a time, shelving the Navy’s F/A-XX effort indefinitely to focus solely on the Air Force’s Raptor replacement… And it’s clear that the Navy is not very happy with this decision.
